Just before a big work event I had my hair colored, highlighted cut — the whole thing, spent a good amount of money and came out looking ridiculous, I was desperate need of someone to fix my mess of head, and of course with no time to spare with my event fast approaching. Tomy not only fixed my color but had it looking better than ever before. My hair looked natural, shiny and healthy. I can’t thank you enough for squeezing me into your busy schedule and fixing my hair before my event. While Tomy is expensive he takes his time and cares about his craft. If you have both the time and funds to invest in your hair Tomy is the only one see!

Jessica has been doing my hair since I moved to Long Island in 2006. I am really picky with my cut and color and she always does exactly what I ask for. My brown hair has a tendency to turn red when being colored and I really dislike the red. Jessica always makes sure that I walk out with brown hair without any brassy red tones. She also does a great cut on my long, wavy hair so that I can style it straight or wear it curly. I would definitely recommend Jessica. She will take the time to listen to you and make sure you walk out with exactly what you want.

Perfect balayage highlights- soft around my face, subtle and looks natural.

My daughters wedding is fast approaching and I was in desperate need of a hair make over- awful orange highlights fried over processed hair- I thought I was a hopeless cause and was truly considering wigs for the big day. I followed tomys instructions and gave him lots of time- I would say almost once a week for about a month. But I must say it was worth the time and the money- I realize some of my hair still has to grow back to be perfect but Tomy has done wonders to get my hair looking great in time the wedding. Love the salon love the staff just be ready to keep coming back this is not a one stop shop

I started using the salon for blowouts once or twice a week and still went in to the city for my hair color. After seeing Tomy’s work I asked him to do my color and his answer was “I love your color why” I told him that it will be nice not to need to go to the city once a month . He has done a great job with my hair color and saved me a trip into the city.

I am writing this in detail in hopes that it will help someone else and to show that this is not a made up review to promote the salon. I have grown my hair long and have had great difficulty finding a stylist who knew how to cut it evenly and style it so that it had body and was flattering (didn’t just lay there and look like rats tails at the end). Previously I had tried 3 different places and wasted money trying to get a good cut (without schlepping into Manhattan).

Additionally, because I like to wear my hair straight, the last 2 summers I had to get Brazilian treatments in order to combat my frizz head caused by our notorious NYC humidity. This year it was no longer an option because I could no longer tolerate the chemicals as I was highly allergic to the treatment.

As a result of the bad haircuts and frizz (sans Brazilian) I gave up and just put my hair up in a scrunchy. While this was functional I did not find it flattering and as a result I avoided many social engagements. This did negatively impact my self-confidence.

Last month I happened to accidentally use hair spray to scrunch my hair after watching a youtube video on the use of a diffuser. My close friend of over 20 years loved it – even better than when it was straight (which was always my preference). I then realized that I may actually have curly hair vs. frizzy hair. In desperation I started researching online for stylists for long hair that were located more conveniently to me than Manhattan. I then realized that there were stylists that also specialized in curly hair. Instead of just being taken in by salons that looked fancy, had great websites and brands, or talked a good game which was horrendously unsuccessfully, I decided to read as many reviews I could find. I looked for detailed ones that I were more likely real. When I came across Tomy B and read Vanessa’s profile and reviews, I decided to take a chance on Vanessa. She was very patient when I called. I spoke to her about my previous negative experiences and reluctance as a result. She answered all of my questions patiently and invited me to come in for a consult, with no strings, to make sure I felt comfortable. She made time for me the same day and took all the time needed. I didn’t feel rushed for the next client and she gave me her full undivided attention. She personally attended to every aspect of my visit – to include washing and conditioning my hair- which is not the norm. While doing this she talked me through the new way to approach my hair care regime to accommodate a curly hairstyle, explaining everything she was doing and why. She not only cut and styled it but educated me on how to properly dry it and use product so that I could achieve the same result realistically without high maintenance (I so do not have a lot of time to devote to my hair and also do not have tons of money to spend on “products”).

My experience with Vanessa really blew me away. My hair looked very similar to those perfect spiral curls I have seen in magazines. Also, the regimen seemed doable for me.

At this stage in my life I would not have thought that a hair style could be such a major event (I have experimented with many different phases, styles and lengths over the years). But this seems to be the case now. I am so relieved that I no longer have to stress about my hair and have a chemical free way to deal with humidity. In addition, Vanessa cut my hair so that I can go both curly and straight so I am not locked in.

I have been seeing him for both cut and color, he’s always impressed me with his work. I love not only how fabulous my hair color turned out, but also he gave me a haircut that I could manage and style on my daily basis as if I had just got it done in the salon.

From the moment I stepped foot on his shop, I knew I was at the right place. Tomy took his time and heard my ordeal and 3 hours later he had worked magic on my hair and is now looking AMAZING!!!
