The Story Behind Tomy B. Salon
I did not set out to open a salon. I set out to fix what was wrong with the hair industry.
I grew up in Israel, where I fell in love with the craft of hair — the precision of a cut, the transformation of color, the way a person carries themselves differently when their hair looks exactly right. I trained under a master stylist in Israel before traveling to France, where I deepened my understanding of European technique, formulation, and the relationship between a colorist and their client.
But the more I learned, the more I saw the same problem everywhere I looked. The products being used in salons — including the ones I was trained to use — were damaging the very clients they were supposed to help. Bleach. PPDs. Ammonia. Formaldehyde derivatives. Compounds that penetrate the scalp, compromise the hair structure, and cause cumulative damage that most clients only recognize years later, when their hair has lost its elasticity, its shine, and its ability to hold color.
I believed there was a better way. So starting in 2009, I began making regular trips to Italy to find it.
The Italian Years — Building Tomy B. Products
For years, I worked alongside Italian laboratories — not as a student receiving instruction, but as a collaborator working on the chemistry itself. My focus was specific: how do you formulate hair color that delivers rich, vibrant, multi-dimensional results without a single toxic compound? How does lipid complex therapy work at the molecular level — and how do you optimize the formula for maximum cortex penetration? What does collagen infusion actually do to the hair shaft, and how do you stabilize it for consistent results?
The work was slow and exacting. Hair chemistry is not simple. Removing bleach and PPDs from a color formula without sacrificing depth or longevity required years of iteration.
But we got there.
The result is Tomy B. Products — a complete proprietary hair care line that I developed, own, and use exclusively at Tomy B. Salon. Every formula — the shampoo, the conditioner, the lipid complex treatment, the collagen infusing treatment, and the hair color itself — was created in those Italian laboratories and has been refined over 15+ years of application.
No other salon on Long Island uses these formulas. No other salon can.

I opened Tomy B. Salon in Williston Park in 2001 with a philosophy that has never changed: treat the hair first, restore its health, then add color that enhances rather than damages.
We call it the Tomy B. Method.
Every appointment begins with a consultation and a lipid complex pre-treatment. We assess your hair current condition, understand your history, and design a plan. Then we treat — restoring moisture, elasticity, and strength at the cortex level. Then we color, using our proprietary pure pigment formulas. Then, if needed, we cut — the way you actually wear your hair, not the way it looks wet.
Your hair leaves the salon healthier than when it arrived. Every time.
